Mileage Builder

Mileage Builder and Refresher course.

Use this 5 day sail to acquire the needed experience and sea time to hone your skills and knowledge for the Intermediate Cruising Standard. This would be a great time to work on the Coastal Navigation Standard or to get your VHF Radio licence. If you haven't already received a Pleasure Craft Operator Card this is the best training to teach you all you will need to know to pass the Transport Canada test.

You can also use this sailing time as a relaxing way to just get some sea time and miles logged without the responsibility and the expense of a bareboat charter or to write exams at the end of the week.

Prerequisites: None.

You can attain this standard during a five day Cruise & Learn and passing the CYA Coastal Navigation Examination. This is now a prerequisite to the Intermediate Cruising Standard.                                                       Read more

VHF Radio

Restricted Operators Certificate (Maritime)
ROC stands for Restricted Radiotelephone Operator's Certificate and is required by:
Anyone using a marine VHF radio or other marine radios (each person on the boat who will use the radio needs their own card). There are significant fines if you are found using a VHF or marine radio without your card. In addition, if you received your ROC card before the new Digital Selective Calling was introduced, then you are encouraged to return and get your DSC endorsement for your ROC card.

Get your radio licence while doing a mileage builder/refresher course or a Navigation Cruise & Learn.                                           Read more
